Destination Achievers Incorporated is made up of four professionals in the areas of Education, Career Development, Logistics, and Leadership who saw a need to come together and provide necessary services to underrepresented and low-income individuals and families. With our combined experiences, we can provided our students with up-to-date and relevant information that will improve their education and job readiness skills.


Michael B. Alston, Chairman

Michael brings to the table 20 years of Transportation and Logistical experience.  He understands the importance of using education to improve business processes and meet strategic goals. In addition to his current role as Chairman, he is also Co-Founder of ALSTNTEC, LLC a SBA woman-owned DBE/SBE consulting company that provide Career and Business Development services to the Maryland area. Through his dedication and commitment,  Michael works to successfully to oversee and implement several key projects to ensure the success of the workshops,  events and tasks that directly affected the bottom line. As a result, the organization is able to benefit from his efforts through new structures, policies and organizational balance.

Michael’s vision is to simplify any situation via his mantra “finding the problem, working the problem and resolving the problem”.


Anne Alston, President and Executive Director

Anne Alston is a person who is passionate about education.  With more than 25 years of experience, Anne’s extensive background comes with the precision of providing Career Transition, Professional Development, Mentoring, and Empowerment Services. Her primary mission is to bring awareness to the importance of goal-driven preparation and works to educate our youth and adults in the areas of career, entrepreneurship, and job retention.

As an activist for adult/youth education, Anne actively participates as a workshop presenter Prince George’s County Public Schools, the Maryland Future Business Leaders Association, and the Maryland Roundtable for Education STEMnet program. She is also a Mentor with the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) for which she was awarded the UMUC Alumni Achiever Award for her dedicated service. Anne earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Information Technology and a dual Master’s of Science degree in Information Technology with a specialization in Information Assurance and CyberSecurity Policy from University of Maryland University College.



Paul Garwood, Vice President 

“I work with individuals, clients, and employees who are miserable despite having success in life and are seeking to find or reignite their purpose.”

Paul Garwood is the Founder and Owner of Strive to Succeed Everyday and a Certified Master Trainer of “Empowering Parents of At-risk Males “Workshop and Adult Continuing Education Program. Paul is also the Founder of Team Legacy Detroit Basketball Club LLC working with Youth ages 9 to 18.

Paul is the Creator of The Push Through with Paul Garwood Radio Show which deals with the many issues of life.

With more than 30 combined years of Management Experience in the Criminal Justice, Airline, and Health Information fields and as a Certified Master Trainer, Paul seeks to Support, Mentor, Influence, Lead, and Empower Parents and Children.

Paul Garwood is a graduate of DeVry University with a Degree in Health Information Management and is a Registered Health Information Technologist. Paul is also a Life Empowerment and Life Transition expert.

We are currently seeking experienced professionals to fill two open Board of Director vacancies to join our team.  Please see below for more information.


We are seeking a certified accountant or financial professional expert to fill the role of Treasurer. Primary responsibilities will be to manage the budget and financial operations, management of company expense reports, and management of semi-annual and annual tax documentation. Other responsibilities include:

  • Attend bi-weekly Board of Director Meetings (in-person or ia phone)
  • Participating in DA activities such as fundraising, event planning or community service
  • Assisting in bringing other related resources that will help achieve the company’s mission, vision, and goals.
  • Participate in other related activities

Other qualifications: 10 years of financial experience or 5 years with CPA certification. Master’s degree in Accounting or Financial Management. Must have strong communication skills and flexibility to attend events.


We are seeking an administrative professional to fill the role as Secretary. Primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Manage BOD and operation documentation
  • Take BOD agenda and  meeting minutes
  • Provide advice and resources to the Board relevant to topics concerning bylaws, ethics policies and other company guidelines.
  • Participate in DA activities such a fundraising, event planning or community services
  • Assisting in bringing other related resources that will help achieve the company’s mission, vision, and goals.
  • Attend bi-weekly Board of Director Meetings (in-person or via phone)
  • Participate in other related activities

Other qualifications include: Five years of Administrative or Recordkeeping experience. Must have strong communication skills and  flexibility to attend events.
